THE PERIMITER OF THE BULIDING IS COMPLETE!!! Yes, we are pleased to announce
in the June 10 edition of "Live from the Freddie" that the exterior walls
are all now in place! Woo Hoo so to speak!
So the perimeter is done and as you can see from the photos the NEW front
porch is clearly defined. For all you puritans I am pleased to advise that
the corner of the new porch is precisely over the location of the old porch.
In fact the new foundation was configured around the block column that
supported the old front corner.
Now, about that Mohican. Well it seems that even though you may expect the
natives in the area to be of the Algonquin persuasion it turns out that it's
actually a Mohican that claims the property our cottage sat on. He showed up
today to stake his claim but after a "Mike's Hard Lemonade" we were able to
persuade him to give away his claim and actually help with our construction.
OK, so actually it was my friend Paul the electrician. Many of you will
remember him as the only soul brave enough to "go deep" into the septic sump
when the pump stopped working and pull it up by hand. He's sporting the
funky haircut as a bit of a lark. Right now his company is re-wiring most of
St. Timothy's Anglican Church in Toronto. You may recall that Paul stood as
my best man when I wed my beloved Lisa in the very same church. Paul told me
he was working on that church I reminded him of the same wedding and he
quipped "I thought it looked familiar!" This is also the same church that
was the parish of our dear Grandpa Watson for many, many years. We are
pleased that they chose such a fine (and brave) electrician to do the work
they needed. Obviously if he's good enough for LeMoine's Landing he's good
enough for St. Tim's.
